Description
Albania plans to introduce an ETS aligned with the EU ETS, with trading to start from 2025. The “Law on Climate Change” adopted in 2019 establishes the institutional framework and arranges the rules for MRV of GHG emissions at the level of sectors/resources and at the national level in line with EU MMR Regulation.
Recent Developments
Albania adopted its National Energy and Climate Plan in 2022, making clear the government’s intention to progress policies and measures identified in that plan, including an ETS.
